I was looking around the ASUS site for GTX 1080/1070's and noticed, that there were 2 versions of the STRIX for both of the versions.

First link: http://www.asus.com/ROG-Republic-Of-Gamers/ROG-STRIX-GTX1070-8G-GAMING/
2nd link: http://www.asus.com/ROG-Republic-Of-Gamers/ROG-STRIX-GTX1070-O8G-GAMING/

Is the second card is binned or it just came out with silghtly higher clocks and higher pricetag for marketing purposes?

Thanks in advance :D

They will likely both reach about the same clock speed when manually overclocked, but one comes at a higher clock speed from factory, making it more appealing to beginners and people who are scared to overclock for obvious reasons.

I would get the 08G if I were you, it has a higher clock speed! Kidding.

In reality, if you do the overclocking yourself you will get the same result between the two cards.

This means that you're paying Asus to do the overclocking for you if you get the 08G version. I would get the 8G.

So basically they are from the same silicon, just the difference are one of em is factory-OCed and another in retail mode? Dang, I'd rather not paying the extra 25 bucks for the 08G here in my country. Thanks for the explanation tho :D

Noted. I prefer to do my own OC'ing anyways. Anyways, thanks mate :D

Yep.

Sorry for the delayed responses. I'm just getting over a grade two concussion and I can only look at a screen so long before I get this pounding headache. So I have to step away from time to time. I try to get back to users whenever I can.

Never attempt to jump out of a moving car. You will fall on your shoulders, get your head whipped back from the forces at play, and knock yourself out for thirty minutes from smacking your head against the road.

Then you will suffer the repercussions for months to come.

What happened though? Car accident?

I don't remember it all that well to be honest. Having gaps in your memory is extremely annoying!

The driver had said that the brakes weren't working and that we were going to crash. So I tried to escape... They ended up not crashing and I now have a grade two concussion.

He didn't make it obvious enough that he was just joking when he said the brakes weren't working.

*This is a mixture of what I remember and what I'm told happened by others that were in the car.

Wow. Must be tough. Did you refer on a specialist after that incident? Where did you live though?
