I've ended up with some files related to a Visual Studio 9.0 Beta Program on my storage drive where I mostly store games. I don't know where they've come from or why they've ended up on that particular drive.

I'm not sure, these are the files I have, the installer is Microsoft Visual C++. It probably is game related...

If you look at the link I sent, the issue is common. Some Steam games apparently use them, you can delete or ignore them safely. Up to you.

Right, I got it. They're temp files erroneously put in the root of the drive, but why would it then at this page say that it's been fixed with a service pack? https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/950683

Poor application (game) design? Particularly the install/uninstall aspects of the game.

I regularly open up this drive and the most recent Steam game I've installed is Borderland's 2 I got on the Steam sale. Must me the culprit.
