Will I see a noticeable performance boost if I pay $20 more for a FX-6350 than a 6300. If I pay that extra I will probably have to get worse speakers and psu. Is it worth it?

Solution
No, it's the same as the 8350 and 8320. The FX 6300 is just a lower binned 6350 and ships with lower clock speeds. That doesn't necessarily mean you cant get a good overclock out of it. I agree with CTurbo, AM3+/FX CPU's are at their end of life. Nothing much on Zen/AM4 has been said lately but you might want to try to hold out and see if anything happens with that =)

Honestly no , but overAll your better off going with the new i3 6100! For Around the same cost, but much more performance, with better frames in most triple a titles! Hope this helped :)

I STRONGLY agree with Kfizz199.

A dual core Skylake Core I3 6100 will beat pretty much anything that AMD has. And Certainly anything they have for $120.

I gave up on AMD when I saw that a core I3 beat out an FX8370 in the Ashes of the Singularity DX12 Benchmark.

DX12 is supposed to favor CPUs with a lot of Cores. Yet the Dual Core I3 beat out the 8 Core FX8370. And the I3 6100 is a faster CPU than the I3 in this benchmark.

In the following video the 6100 matches the fraps of a Sandy Bridge Core I5 2500. The 6100 is by far the best budget CPU on the market right now IMO. Plus with Intel you will get a more modern motherboard than what AMD has.

BTW, I have a I3 6100 and I can tell you it is GREAT for gaming. I have had zero problems with it and it is very snappy. Faster than the FX8350 in my other machine. I had been with AMD for about 12 years and I don't regret the switch to Intel. It is something I should of done a long time ago.

Yeah, don't bother with a FX 6300, the most modern gpu's bottleneck the FX 6300. If you want a cpu of same price range you should go with the i3 6100, and at least this way you have future expansion room to go to a i5 or i7 later. Not to mention that the am3+ socket is at end of life and doesn't even have pcie 3.0 which is getting closer and closer to necessary for modern graphics cards like the GTX 1XXX series.
