I have an older Dell XPS 420 system and WAS using a NVidia GTX 470, and after eight long years, it finally breathed its last. I bought a GTX 970 a week ago, but still cant manage to have the PC recognize it. NVidia tells me i need to disable to on-board graphics card. My mobo is so old, i dont see s setting in the BIOS to do that, as it doesnt even have an Advanced Settings option. I must have installed the drivers and uninstalled them about 5 times already, and nothin... can someone plz help?? Also, im running dual monitors too, so i need that functionality as well. I see that the GTX 970 has both DVI-D and DVI-I, so im assuming im good there.

I have a 600W PS, so that should be plenty of power.

Thanks

you might need to go into the bios, under security most likely and disable secure boot

or there might be a uefi setting you need to put on legacy mode

What do you mean have I populated all the PCI-Express slots on the GTX 970? I have only one PCI-Express slot on my mobo. Monitors are hooked up to the card, yes, and not the mobo (mobo doesn't have onboard graphics ports that I can tell). I tried updating the bios on the card. I had a very knowlegable friend take me through NVFlash and couldnt update the BIOS on the card... maybe I was doing it wrong i guess.. lol.

mmm not yet. I just checked and it looks like the driver downloads for the mobo are only in Windows Vista or XP form... My current version is A04, but it looks like all the ones available are lower than A04, like A03 and under... I'm running Windows 7. I guess I need to contact Dell. What do you think? Any other suggestions?
