Hey everyone

I just OCed my CPU ( i7 3770K ) to 4,5Ghz on air ( Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo )
stress tested it with Prime95 and it seems like it running well

But my question is,when i stress test it,it seems like its running on temp around 72c
but when i scroll a bit down my core temp 1-4 runs over 90c

Is that bad or should i overlook it and rather focus on the Cpu Core temp that shows me around 70ish ?

Link to pic incase you guys need a little more info on what im all about

Okay, then if you would like to, go ahead and purchase the cooler. You should see about a 20 degree difference, at least. Please note that I am referencing to the CPU die temperature, as the cores are down further below the heat spreader. They will likely be cooled down about 15 degrees more than with the 212 Evo.
Yes that's a high temperature.

However, the temperatures you get out of Prime95 are higher than the ones you will get out of more "standard" stress testers like the System Stability Tester in AIDA64 Extreme.

Prime95 tests literally every instruction set that your CPU has, all at the same time. Temperatures will be higher than they will be even if you were trying to game while rendering a video and streaming.

Please download AIDA64 Extreme and drop down the Tools Menu across the Top, select System Stability Test, select everything except for the Disk option and test for at least four hours to verify OC is stable.

It will automatically stop the test and report a hardware failure if there is any sort of CPU related error.

Cpu temps were over 100,seems like it stressed it out more than what prime did :/
Do you recommend i downclock it a bit? what should the temps be around? under 90c or?

I usually recommend keeping your CPU from going above 85C.

Also, if it's a higher temperature in AIDA64, it may have been throttling in Prime95.

I would recommend downclocking, yes.

Now, AIDA64 will again yield a slightly higher temperature then you're likely to see while gaming, but it's more realistic in terms of having many multithreaded processes using high amounts of the CPU's clock. Basically, the test is more realistic.

Do i look for the CPU temp or the Core temp? cause CPU temp is around 70ish but one of the cpu core goes from 85-92c
Tried to downclock it to 4,3Ghz

If you dont like the temp its giving me here ill downclock it to 4,2Ghz

Here's the thing... Both temperatures are important.

The core temp is the temperature of each individual core inside the CPU.

CPU temp is the temperature of the die as a whole. Usually, under high stress, the core temps are higher.

However, I recommend keeping both of them below 85C.

Hopefully this doesn't come as a surprise, but the 212 evo is not the best overclocking cooler... Try the DeepCool Assassin II, which is huge and will likely cover at least one of your RAM slots.

Your other option is to liquid cool the CPU.

These models have 120mm radiators.

These models have 240mm radiators.

Ok,i tried to downclock it to 4,2 Ghz and it looks like its staying under 85c on both CPU and the cores

Doesnt look like that cooler is available here in Norway

i do the 140mm if im not mistaking, what can you recommend from that list that is good but not too expensive?
