I've been gaming on this rig (first build) for a few months now and have decided to do some fine tuning. I was in a hurry to get it together and didn't put effort into cable management or cooling for potential overclocking and now I want to work on that.
I'm using an armor 2x msi r93 380 4gb on a gigabyte 970a-ud3p and I remember running into problems trying to fit the GPU in the top pci slot so I moved it down near my psu. there's only a few inches of clearance. Anyways from what I've read, the msi armor 2x is a decent cooler but requires free airflow within the case so I'm concerned with how close to the psu and GPU fans are.. I've ordered a hyper 212 EVO for my fx8320 and I want to try and fix everything all at once when I tear it down to install my new cpu cooler. Any suggestions? Also my case has one stock fan in the front, do I need any more fans? Not ready for the leap to liquid cooling yet.

full specs
thermaltake tr2 600w
msi r9 380
and fx8320
corsair case (spec 0 or something I threw out the box)

1| You should move your GPU back to it's intended first slot on your motherboard since the second PCI-E slot is electrically wired to run at x4 mode and not x8 or x16 per their specifications page.

2| I'd stay away from that PSU since it isn't reliable. TR2's are the bane of pretty much any build.

3| The AMD FX-8320 that you current;y own is rated with an 125W TDP which is much more than what a Coolermaster Hyper 212x/evo/what not can handle. I'd suggest changing the cooler choice with one by Cryorig H7 or a Be Quiet! Dark Rock cooler.

4| Is it possible to pass on a (couple of) pic(s) of your case and the internals? It'd help to get some visual indication of where you're starting from and what we have to work with...?

5| You don't need to go into watercooling, yet since your post indicates you'll need to work out with air cooling and get the hang of your system before making the leap ;)

6| You forgot to include any SSD's or storage drives in your specs.

Thanks for the reply! First let me point out that I'm a complete noob to forums in general so sorry for the following and any other stupid questions: I took a picture but there was no option to upload and I'm not sure where to host it as I no longer own a website.. Also I made one of the changes you mentioned shortly after posting my question. I'm not sure why I thought my 380 wouldn't fit in the top slot.. I moved it up simply enough. You said the 212 evo wouldn't be sufficient? What problems should I be looking for? I figured it would at least be better than the noisy stock AMD cooler and so far it seems to be working great.. I overclocked up to 4.7 (I knocked it down to 4.0 for now since I don't really know what I'm doing, I was just really enjoying tweaking and testing and wanted to see how far i could push it). Anyways even when pushed that hard the 8320 was still at least 25 degrees Celsius cooler under load than it was with the stock cooler. Also WAY quieter. The GPU is running cooler too now that I moved it away from the power supply.. Also it turns out I had the power supply installed upside down lol. Now I have a few new questions. I have a sim racing cockpit set up now and I have it on its side behind the bucket seat on top of the sub-woofer. On a scale of one to 10 how bad is that for my rig? I have a soft mat between the sub and the PC to try and dampen the vibrations. It's been working fine so far but until I got my new monitor (Benq XR3501) I couldn't play more than 20-30 minutes without my eyes going buggy from the cheap TV i was using as a monitor.. so there hasn't been a lot of extended use while the sub woofer is going. I'll try and find a good free host so I can upload the pics.. I was originally using the 500 gb HDD i took out of my old ps4 but now there's an AMD Radeon 7 240 gb SSD, a WD slim 2 tb HDD, and a Silicon Power 480 gb SSD i picked up a couple days (I know, it's cheap but it works well so far).
