Bios update on i7 4790k?

Hey guys, so I'm bout to order all the parts for my bios and on pcpartpicker is says "Some Intel chipsets may need a bios update" or something along those lines. I'm pretty new to this stuff so can anyone explain what does this mean? And will I have to do this update thing it says?

It means that the motherboard may have lacked BIOS support for that CPU, so you may need to update i'ts BIOS in order for it to work. This will be a tricky proposition if you don't have a board that supports updating the BIOS without any components attached(CPU + RAM are teh bare minimum). Some Asus boards support this, and the feature is called USB BIOS Flashback. Look for that.

No need to do anything, your motherboard will come with the latest bios.

The minnimum BIOS version for that CPU is 4.2 which is over one year old. In all likelihood, the MB will come with a newer version, but it wouldn't hurt to email the store and ask.

The CPU does require a BIOS update, issued in 2014, but it's hard to believe that you'd get such an old board to not support the CPU.
