So i have a an ancient Abit IX38 Quad GT motherboard installed inside NZXT Phantom 410
I recently bought a used sapphire r9 270x toxic 2gb ddr5 which dose'nt slot all the way in the PCI-E X16 slot since it is hitting the motherboard heatsink thingy.

Since its a crossfire enabled i tried the other X16 slot but now the PCI-E x1 slot below is a bit outside and wont let the card slot in again.

Both slots work perfectly with my current R7 260X

I am thinking of breaking the x1 slot below it but scared that i might ruin the motherboard completely.

What to do?

Solution
There should be no reason the 270X won't seat all the way. Motherboard design is such that the heat sink and its heat pipe is below the height of the card even when fully seated.

Do NOT try to remove the Xi slot.

@Clutchc u were right the. It was not the motherboard that was blocking the card from going in but

The metal part that goes on the side of the case where all the display connectors are was badly bent for some reason.

I straightened it out and it slotted perfectly in the case.

Yes, I've run across that myself. And sometimes the slot that those tabs have to slide into are slightly narrow. Glad to hear all is normal again.
