Will the 5820k Intel cpu run 3way 980ti cards? I have Alienware Area 51 r2

Solution
It also depends on the mobo. Some mobos won't support 3-way SLI with a 5820k.

That being said, 3 way SLI isn't a great idea. Performance tends to scale pretty poorly beyond 2 cards.

Yes and there is no reason to buy the 5930k. Even the 980ti can barely (if) saturate the 8x bus. So even if you had the 5930k the gpu performance would have been the same. You would need more lanes only if you were to make a 4 way sli, which is quite broken.

After looking around... I think I'm better of with gtx 1080sli witch should preform better than 3wat 980ti... An I should notice the difference from upgrading from my current GPU gtx 960 to 1080 sli
