I just got a gtx 1070 from gigabyte. I checked my pcu requiremen's for my system (including gtx 1070) and my pcu has 100 unused watts than what my system actually consumes. But, my pcu is un-heard of for some reason, literally no reviews anywhere for it. It is 500w and from gigabyte. It has an efficiency rating of just 80+. Do I need to upgrade it just because it isn't known, or am I safe?

Gtx 1070

8gb ram
2 1tb hdd
120 gb ssd

Solution
What does your PSU say on the label?
Particularly the amps or watts for the 12v You are likely OK.
The GTX1070 needs typically a single 8 pin pcie power connector.
If your psu has one, or a 6+2 you are ok.
If it has two 6 pin connectors, you can use an adapter and you should be ok.

It has a 6+2 connecter. What did you mean when you said 'Particularly the amps or watts for the 12v You are likely OK.'
