Ok, I have a 2010 top of the line Dell Studio XPS 8100, which like I said, top of the line back in 2010. However, most components are obsolete and are unable to run any modern games smoothly. To prolong the use of my pc, I bought a gtx 960. This lets the pc run most games I play, like war thunder and cs:go, on max settings at 60fps (vsync.) I am planning on building a new PC for my bday, and here's the components I will be using

CPU: Intel i7-6700k
CPU Cooler: H100i v2 by Corsair
Motherboard: MSI z170a SLI PLUS
Ram: Ballistix Sport LT 2x4gb DDR4 2133MHz
GPU: NVidia GTX 960 MSI Armor 2gb GDDR5 <- I am reusing this from old PC
PSU: AL-D500XP 500 Watt Power Supply Non-Modular <- Also reusing this
Storage: Kingston 240gb SSD <- Don't complain that this isn't enough, cause it is for me
Case Fans: Corsair SP120 High Performance 120mm Fans
Wireless Adapter: TP-LINK Archer T9E Dual Band, 2.4GHz 600Mbps/5GHz 1300Mbps
Case: Fractal Design Define S w/ Window
And to top it off, some BitFenix Alchemy White LEDs :D

Since I am reusing the graphics card and trying to keep the budget at around $1000, I am putting a bit more money on a CPU which I will overclock to get better performance. I would've went with a 970 with 4gb GDDR5 which is a lot better, but the 960 was a great budget option for $175, but the extra $50 for a 970 probably would've been better. This is a white/black themed build also, and the 960 has white/black fans

Here's my old PC specs

CPU: Intel i5-650
CPU Cooler: Stock Intel Cooler
Motherboard: Yeah I don't even know
Ram: DDR3 8 gb <-Don't know the brand
GPU: NVidia GT 520 <- Top of the line apparently
PSU: Some 350W Power Supply
Storage: A 1TB HDD
Case Fans: A 97 (I think) mm fan
Wireless Adapter: DW1525 Wireless n
Case: Studio XPS 8100

So what do you guys think? Is it a decent build? It will also be my first fully built PC!

The diablotek PSU you are going to use is absolute garbage. Get a tier one or tier two PSU from this list: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html

Long story short for that PSU: it uses bad components that are highly likely to fail during stress.

I don't see anything else wrong, but I would look into getting an AMD RX 480 instead, as it is much more powerful and is only 250 ish USD for the 8 gig vRAM version, and I think 200-220 for the 4 gig vRAM version. Also, they have fixed the power issues with only a 1-2 fps drop at max(from what I have read of).
