Gx 1060 with Fx 6300 OCed to 4.1Ghz (for now). How far will Fx 6300 be able to give the performance that gtx 1060 will need

So I currently have a Gtx 750 ti and Fx 6300 OCed to 4.1 Ghz. Might Oc it further with better cooler. The Gtx 1060 is coming this July and I am buying one.
Though its too soon to speculate its performance, a guess could be made by your PC experiance on how far will Fx 6300 give the required performance gtx 1060 needs to give out all the power a game will need to run
P.S I run my games on a 1600*900 Monitor .
I am concerned about games like Hitman 6 and Arkham knight. While the GPU will be great for running those at 900p, will the processor be good enough/go hand in hand with the gpu while eunning these and more in future?
Any feedback is appreciated

so your cpu would not be good enough, especially at such a low resolution

get a gtx 960

That would still bottleneck it, you'd be better off getting an Intel processor or the 8350. Of course, the 8350 has 8 cores, and mostly only 1-4 cores will be used in games. There will be games where it can be a bottleneck, but you could always increase detailing and overclock it. With the FX-6300, the 960 would be the better choice. Of course, with the 1060 coming out, a "new" build could be relatively cheap :)

yes,, a 960 would not bottleneck it, but its similar in price to an rx 480/gtx 1060 so might as well get the better card for the same/similar price. also a better card like a 1060 or rx 480 will get similar fps in games compared to something like a 960, but you will be able to crank the settings and resolution up with something higher end. I used to have a 960 and fx 6300 combo, I get similar fps to what I get now with my rx 480 and fx 6300 but I am able to play at much higher settings now with my rx 480 8 gig in all my games. also lets say he gets a 960, and decides to upgrade cpu later on, he will be wishing he got something better like a gtx 1060 or rx 480 for a similar price to a gtx 960.

Yeah, the RX 480 and FX-6300 wouldn't be the worst setup, as you say, but with the costs so low, it would be worth the upgrade to something like an i5/i3 with 4 cores (dual cores, not a fan of). Increased frames in games and being able to take full advantage of that GPU would be worth the cost. Of course, this can all be done at a later date. Would just have to focus on the GPU-ended side for lots of games.

an upgrade to a better cpu would def be worth it if he has the money. but if he's gona buy a new gpu, might as well go for something like a an rx 480 or gtx 1060 if he can afford a 960. also if he can wait, maybe zen would be a good option(its supposed to be good, and amd improved there gpus a lot with Polaris so I don't see how they count do the same with cpus and dx 12 will take advantage of cores better than dx 11). but unless he can get a 960 really cheap(like 120-13 dollars max) its not worth it, even if he can get it that cheap, it would be better to wait for the gtx 1050 or rx 470 than get a 960. the gtx 960 terrible buy with the rx 480 currently on the market and the upcoming gtx 1060 and the rx 470 coming soon.

Exactly, it's hard to justify even spending $120 for a GTX 960 when you can get a lot more performance for your money, for a little more. I have my expectations for Zen, I hope it's as good as it's hyped up to be, I have an old AMD build I'd love to upgrade and stick a 1060 in. I say as long as the frame-rates are playable on the games you want to play, get the better GPU, Zen will be a little while from now, but the FX-6300 will hold out, for what it's worth. Still, an 8350 would be a viable options the meantime, would close the gap a little more.
