Hi, I'm using a Gigabyte motherboard GA-Z77M-D3H, it has a PCI-E X16 slot, I then bought a Gigabyte GTX-1070, after I slot the 1070 in the X16 Slot, I can go to the BIOS screen and the screen went black out while the Windows was keeping booting up normally. [I slot my old display card in the X4 slot and awore of that. What can I do??? Please help!!!

I am having the same problem with GTX 1060 and the same motherboard Z77M-D3H. The board cannot detect the card.
May I know what were the parameters you changed in the BIOS?

I have solved it.
1. Update bios to latest beta firmware. (Initially I just updated to the latest firmware, not beta)
2. Change bios setting to boot from PEG first. (Not Auto or IGFX)
3. Change bios setting PEG Gen3 Slot Configuration to Gen3. (Not Auto or Gen1 or Gen2) <<< This is the important part
4. Change bios setting SATA Hard Disk Mode to AHCI. (Leave as IDE if you do not run Windows from an SSD)
5. Save changes and reboot.

Your GTX 1060, 1070 or 1080 should be detected now.

I updated my Bios via @BIOS Utility from U.S.A server to F9 and found a setting in Miscellaneous Setting -> Peg Gen3 Configuration and set it to Gen3 instead of auto. set init to PEG somewhere. Worked like a charm :)

@Bro
my MOBO GB Z270M-D3H bios settings is completely different then what you have mentioned, it doesn't show "PEG" option at all?
it has only 3 options in "INTIAL DISPLAY OUTPUT" 1) IGFX, 2)PCIE 1 SLOT, 3) PCIE 2 SLOT
AND in Miscellaneous settings>Max Link Speed> there are 4 options
  1. Auto
  2. gen1
3.gen2
4.gen3

and when i select gen3 and save and reset then too my system is just black screen and nothing else, i have to switch off and disconnect the graphics card and connect the VGA to inbuilt adaptor and restart then only the screen comes to life!

can u pls help me out as what settings should i tweak to get the card running?
