GTX 1070 or GTX 970?

Hi. I'm asking this for my friend. He's planning on buying the MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X 8GB which is 560€, GTX 970 cards would be a bit over 300€. His current PC has a Radeon R9 270X with AMD FX-4350. Also, he's got a 60Hz 1080p monitor. Would it be worth it to buy the GTX 1070 or just go with GTX 970?

If he doesn't plan on upgrade the cpu the 1070 isn't worth the extra money. Even a 970 won't perform as well as it should paired with that cpu.

He's had plans to upgrade the CPU later, propably to FX-8350.
