Wanted to replace an Athlon 64 3500+ with Athlon x4 630 on a N68-gs which does support am3 socket cpu-s but has 2 slots of ddr2 (max)1066 mhz memory. I'm currently using 2x2gb of 667 mhz ones and a seller on amazon said "it's not compatible since this is a ddr3 chip". I checked on asrock's cpu support list and this cpu is listed there. If anyone has more info that would be appreciated.

Solution

Absolutely; the motherboard supports DDR2-667, DDR2-800 and DDR2-1066. The motherboard determines what memory type is supported.

@GhislainG Well i thought that's what forums are for, to get more user experience oriented answers (not trying to be hostile) ;)
Just that at the amazon listing I asked the same question and a couple of aswers were that it's a ddr3 chip, or that since it's a quad core cpu it only supports ddr3 memory. And since this is a reputable forum i thought why not get a third opinion.
