Hi,

Computer won't start at all with CMOS and my GTS 250 but get rid one of them. My old geforce 210 work fine but not this GTS 250. I have use two different PSU and it's the same so I assume that it's not a PSU faulty. First PSU is 500w 2x +12v rail 17A and the other one is 700w 2x +12v rail 40 amperage.

I have try everything but it won't work. The symptom with CMOS + GTS 250 is boot up then after a few second it shut down then it boot up again with no output to monitor no flash of keyboard.

Symptom without CMOS + GTS 250 is boot up but have NO SOUND. Also if I restart PC or go to Bios then save & exit, It will not boot up at all that I need to unplug all the power and wait a few second to boot up.

It's fine to use this PC without CMOS and right date but the thing is it has no sound. Please help me out I'm really sick of this.

Sorry for my English.

Hi

Do you mean cmos battery not installed ?

Have you checked it is approx 3.0 volts ?
Less than 2.8 volts and it must be replaced

Remove mains power lead
Fit graphics card

Fit cmos battery
Set cmos reset jumper to clear position , then run position

Doing this with mains still connected can damage the motherboard as psu provides power even when psu powered off

Then try starting up again

Get into bios and check settings especially sound chip

If this does not work see if any motherboard bios upgrades are available.

Was the 210 changed because you want something more powerful or it died?

I just want to play CSGO at higher FPS. The GTS 250 get me around 75 FPS max High setting and I'm happy with it but it won't boot with CMOS battery in. And it's mean that there is no Sound available because the BIOS can't save without CMOS. There is no BIOS upgrade for this crappy system.

And switching the jumper will not allow the system to BOOT AT ALL. Not even a fan spin. I don't know what the heck is wrong because I'm trying to fix this problem with this card since last 5 days and still no clue. I thought that my 500w is not enough so I go out and get the 700w and I was like wow this is not the PSU problem.

Why does CMOS plug in prevent this card from working with this system?

One more question. When I remove the CMOS and Plug it in then it will reset the BIOS? If so then why it still won't boot up with CMOS.

Do you think the Sound Card will do the trick? I able to found a 2$ sound card around this place.

One more, Is CMOS really important or it just to save date and time? My computer connect to internet 24/7 so the date update automatically every hour.

Hi
The cmos chip holds configuration for hardware so without the battery every time the pc is powered on the default settings are loaded

It would be best if the cmos battery was in place the cmos reset using jumper , then cmos jumper put in run position

Then startup system
Go Into bios and load setup defaults
Set date & time
Then exit bios, and hopefully boot from the hard disk

If the system still fails to boot it seems to be incompatible with the new graphics card

If you have to continue with the cmos battery removed then make sure the date & time is reset before you go on the internet as strange error messages & problems occur if the date is way behind
