I have a wired Logitech optical mouse that worked nicely on my desktop for about 2 years. Today it suddenly stopped working. The red LED is also not lit. Tried it in all USB ports and still not working (although windows makes the sound when a usb device is connected). Another mouse works just fine with that computer.
I tried the faulty mouse with my laptop and it worked nicely there.
