Intel Core i5-3570K too hot?

Hi all,

I have a question about my CPU.
It is an Intel Core i5-3570K.
The CPU isn't overclocked or modified at any way.

But the temps are now going high.
At least it seems so.

Here the min-max temps from HWMionitor, with a stresstest from OCCT.

And the temperatures are, in idle state, about 60 degrees Celcius.
When I am playing some games, it goes up to 90 degrees Celcius,

I have a Corsair Carbide 100R case, with 3 120mm fans installed and running on full power.
This can't be okay, right?

I hope someone can help me.
Thank you and have a nice day.

Greetings, Deystorm

90c when gaming is a bit high even for a stock cooler, what cooler are you using? try having the side panel of your case open and see if it gets better. what is your ambient temps? is your gpu temps okay? they may be dumping in a lot of heat into the cpu cooler

While anything under 90 is safe, i consider your temps to be too high. You should get a better cooler like teh Cryorig H7.

Thanks all for the answers.
I have the stock cooler on the CPU.
The CPU fan is active, very active even.

I have not reseated the cooler.

Before I buy an aftermarket fan, which fans will work with my RAM?
Because I have RAM from the Corsair Vengeance series...

Many thanks for all the help.
Greetings, Deystorm

PS. If you need more information, don't hesitate to ask!

+1, if it doesn't help look at the Cryorig H7 cooler, about $30

Okay, thank you all for the provided solutions.
First of all I am going to clean the stock cooler and apply some new thermal paste.

If I need more info, am I allowed to react again in this topic??

I have cleaned the whole CPU fan.
But I don't have replaced the thermal paste.
The thermal paste is ordered but not yet arrived, if arrived I will replace the thermal paste.

This picture shows my temps after 45 minutes of OCCT testing:

These temperatures are better, not?

Well I would consider a new cooler, but only if it fits with my Corsair Vengeance RAM.
And it must be sold/available in my country.
But the Cryorig H7 is not available in the Netherlands.

Yes, check http://tweakers.net/pricewatch.
This is a Dutch price-comparing website for all kinds of computer components.
If you don't understand the website, let me know, then I need to search for the products...

You can search for products via the search bar with the text "Zoek een product" in it.

Yes, this is also a great cooler: https://tweakers.net/pricewatch/447512/be-quiet!-dark-rock-tf/specificaties/

If that is still too large, this will definitely fit: https://tweakers.net/pricewatch/447517/be-quiet!-shadow-rock-lp.html

Okay, thanks all for the recommendations.
But which fan can I use combined with my Corsair Vengeance RAM (memory)??

Because the RAM is higher than normal...

Okay, thank you Hlsgsz,
The thermal paste has arrived yesterday.
First I will re-apply it on my cpu and heatsink (stock).

If that doesn't work good enough, than I will consider buying a RAIJINTEK PALLAS fan.
You'll hear from me soon ;)

Now they are within normal parameters(under 80 is ok bcuz OCCT is not a normal usage scenario and they will not get much above 70 when gaming.
You could keep the stock cooler if you are ok with it's noise levels, but i would get the PALLAS to improve that and also allow for overclocking in the future, if you have a Z chipset MB.
