thanks for replying! i saw this somewhere but im kind of a noob. theres a lot of slots that say fan. http://images10.newegg.com/UploadFilesForNewegg/itemintelligence/g/mb_manual_ga_970a_ds3p_e1402652471238.pdf
heres the website withvthe design for my mb. can you tell me which one to use? also the computer does start. everything lights up. the GPU fan is weird though it starts spinning then stops and repeats.

Okay, the correct fan slot is the one directly above and to the right the CPU, next to the RAM slots and it says "CPU_FAN".

Make sure it is seated in there completely and in the right direction.

okay i think ive done it right. theres only one way for the H100i GT to be plugged in anyways. but the computer turns on. the H100i turns on and seems to be working due to the way it feels when i touch the pumps. the led lights turn on so it looks like theyre getting power. the GPU fan is still starting and stopping though is this bad? and also no display even though everything seems to be on. And im almost certain i plugged it in right because theres only one way for it to go.

Sounds like your GPU might not be plugged in correctly or the drivers are messed up. Some GPUs will turn the fans off if they are not being used too.

you mean like the slot its in is broken or the 6 pin plug is broken?
