I am going to be buying a new gaming PC and I just want to be 100% sure before I buy it. If I do a factory reset on my old PC's hard drive, I want to know if there will be any complications if I put it in my new PC. It is a completely different PC. I will not be using the same motherboard or anything from my old PC. This could be a stupid question but I seriously want to know the answer. I really just want to do this because I would have to spend and extra $153 on my PC if I have to buy a new hard drive with windows 10 from the company I am buying the PC from. Thank you in advance.

Solution
You can transfer a hard drive between PCs as long as you wipe it first. No problem there.

What version of Windows do you have on your current machine? This will determine the path to activation.
Thanks for the catch mate. Now I can get here and already have the info I needed.

Okay.. OEM is tricky, but can be transferred. You will have to call Microsoft and have them transfer the license to the new PC, after you've wiped the old one.

You will need to have your product key on hand and know the motherboard model that's in your current machine.
