Hey guys, I'm posting this for my friend because he can't due to lack of internet.

My friend is having problems connecting to the internet. He uses power line adapters to connect. he's tried using wifi and other methods of connecting (besides direct, thats not possible for him)

He's tried just about everything he's seen on google and everything we could both think of.

Drivers, disabling ipv6, looking in the settings, multiple ipconfig commands, safety mode, restore points, etc.

When diagnosed he's given different errors at random. Here's the one I'm aware of

"Your computer appears to be correctly configured but the device or resource (DNS server) is not responding"
We tried flushing the dns/rebooting and that didn't seem to help.

When he looks in the settings IPV4 is connected and working, however IPV6 is not. This just started happening this morning and last night everything was fine. As far as I know there has been no software downloaded in the past 24 hours before/after this problem occurred. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Solution
He doesn't need IPv6 to connect to the Internet, Ipv4 should suffice.

He should try resetting his router first, and should connect while using a direct computer to router or modem connection with no powerline adapters until the connection is restored. Difficult or not, a direct connection is the best initial way to solve his issue.

Sounds like this could be a problem with the (figurative) ISP Modem, or Router.
I'm confused if the ISP is using Powerline as the network or if your home network is Powerline.

If internet is through Cable, use a pin and hold the reset button down for ~1min. Make sure the router is set to Dynamic DHCP.
Through DSL there's more, you may need to setup the router using PPoE, PP2P or other requiring login and password.

If its a programmed unit than follow whatever information you might get ISP specific through DSLreports.com
