Hello TH community, I feel like getting a new wireless usb adapter (I think that mine might be failing) and was wondering if someone can point me in the right direction of some top notch wireless USB network adapters that can use the 5ghz frequency and are reliable for gaming?

Price range is no more than $50ish.

All wireless adapters are not recommended for online gaming because of the issue of random interference and how sensitive games are to this type of loss.

USB adapters are generally designed for portable devices so the tend to favor small size and lower power (ie save battery). Best wireless performance comes with the largest antenna and highest legal power. It is a trade off.

The best USB cards are larger physical unit that have external antenna. Most have USB cable to mount the unit away from the back of the computer where the signals are blocked by the case.

I would stay with more well known brands mostly so you can get good driver support.

If you stay away from very tiny USB device you will likely get acceptable performance from most and you can use a $3 USB extension cable on any device to exend it away from the case.

Wifi is not ideal, but it is what you asked for. So one with an external antenna that can operate at the full allowed power for wifi is recommended. Here is one idea but there are others that may be cheaper. Buy and test it out to see if it works for you before the return period is over.
