Hard Drive Not Recognized in BIOS

I was helping my friend put together his computer today. We finished and checked to see all components were detected by the motherboard. The HDD was the only component not detected. We have tried changing the SATA power and data cables and tried hooking the SATA data cord into all 6 slots on the motherboard as well as trying IDE as well as AHCI SATA modes. We are about to write the drive off as dead but I wanted a second opinion.

Motherboard: ASRock H97M Pro4
HDD: Western Digital Blue 1 TB 7200 RPM
PSU: EVGA Supernova NEX650G

Any help would be very much appreciated. If more information is needed I'd be happy to try and get it.

Hey there, @epitts1013!

I'm sorry to hear about your friend's issues with the WD Blue drive! :( I'd suggest you try connecting it to another PC and check how it will get recognized there. This way you will be able to find the source of the issue. You've done a good job with the swapping of cables & ports, but I'd also suggest you reset BIOS and see if that will do you any good with the detection issues. If nothing works, make sure you check the warranty of the WD Blue and see if it's still covered.

Keep me posted with the troubleshooting & Good luck!
