First, save your pictures. Then take the SD card out, insert it in a card reader and format it. Insert it in the camera and check.

Make sure that SD cards are purchased from reputable stores, because there are many fakes on the market and cards of inferior quality.

Lastly, check with Nikon's website and see whether there is a firmware update. If there is one, Nikon will clearly explain how to install the latest update and also tell you why you need it. Some updates may not apply to you.
