Hi,

I've got an old PC that I wish to sell. I kept my PSU for my new computer and bought a used PSU to someone.
I've put the motherboard and CPU. Problem : My old RADEON HD 5850 need 2x 6 PCI express pins connectors and the PSU (550 W), doesn't have them.
So I've bought an adaptor Molex/PCI.
2nd problem : It needs 2 molex entry for 1 PCI express. I need 2 PCI express for the GPU but don't have 4 Molex coming from my PSU...

Any idea how can I found a solution in order to use this graphic card with my PSU ?

Thx for your help,

in which case I strongly advise you to get a new PSU that can actually cope.

That radeon was top end in a era when power usage was higher, not too bad maybe 150W. BUT that PSU is not SLI capable, they don't even list the amps on the 12V rail. It will not be capable of 550W, i'd suggest 300-350 max.

Note where this 850W unit fails. http://www.hardwareinsights.com/wp/the-2013-el-cheapo-power-supply-roundup/6/#Cooler-Power-GX850

Also note that they are blatantly copying cooler master, look at the logos and the model names.

I wouldn't run anything on that PSU.

It's a cool Power GX550 eXtreme power. I think it's more than enough for a Phenom II X6 1090T, a Radeon HD 5850 and a SSD.

Don't you think ?

if this is your PSU http://www.coolermaster.com/powersupply/gx-series/gx-550w/ then you have 2x 6+2 PCI-E connectors.

The reason that this is being questioned, is that if they don't have the connectors it's usually for a very good reason.
