Hi,
So I currently have a 1TB 3.5" SATA-III 6GB/s HDD 7200RPM 32MB CACHE hard drive which is currently installed in my gaming PC. I'm not sure of the manufacturer.

My current specs are:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4771 CPU @ 3.50GHz
MSI NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970
Corsair CMZ16GX3M2A1600C10 Vengeance 16GB RAM
Motherboard: ASUS® Z87M-PLUS
Seasonic S12G-750 750W 80+ Gold Certified Wired Power Supply
Windows 10

I have everything installed on my current hard drive and I do not want to replace it although it is running out of space.
What would be a good option for a second hard drive/SSD that is above 1TB (preferably 2TB) and preferably made for gaming even though I'm not fussed if it isn't faster than my current hard drive.

Thanks for any help

Tom

How much of your current 1tb drive is actually used?
How much is steam games?

I would propose the use of a Samsung evo ssd.
$300 or so will buy you a 1tb ssd.
Use the free Samsung ssd migration aid to move all to the new ssd. You can then repurpose your 1tb hard drive for expansion.
Trust me, once you have a ssd, you will never build without one. It makes every thing so much quicker.

If $300 is too much, look at 500gb.
Samsung can exclude large folders from the migration.
That is fine for large files such as videos, but not for programs that use the registry.
I understand, though that steam games can be moved so look into that.

Currently 837gb is used and I'm constantly having to delete old games. Only 925gb is actually useable.
I'm not sure the exact amount but at lease 600gb of the drive are games.

Any price under $300 is probably fine, I'm not sure how to use the SSD migration aid to move over files and whilst I probably could do it I'm just scared of something breaking.

If I did use the migration aid does it move absolutely everything? Including the operating system?

Thanks

Tom
