I am thinking to upgrade my 2gb ddr3 1333 mhz ram with another 4 gb ram.my board is of single channel. what are the disadvantages of the deed?

None really. You'll just want the exact same make/model/speed chip(s) you already have. Mixing up different RAM types (not capacities) can cause major pain, like random freezes
