Hi, I'm new here and don't know any formalities to write a thread here. I had very typical problem in mind and really need professional advice so, rushed here!

Let me tell the problem in detail so you can understand it properly.
Today, I was watching friends(TV series) in VLC player and then played next episode. When I played it VLC shows me error that "bad sector" or something, I don't remember well. I took it lightly and thought VLC is doing something wrong. When I tried to exit VLC it got hung and in few later windows explorer also. I took it lightly so restarted the machine. restart got stuck then I force restarted using button on chassis. Machine restarted normally, no unusual activity happened. But when I log on, there was no hard drives were showing up. Now the technical details.

I have two hard drives, one for OS installation and another as secondary one. secondary one is of capacity 2TB and it's Seagate barracuda 7200rpm.
I checked BIOS, it's detected there but in disk management it isn't showing up. although when I'm opening disk management opens another pop up window titled "initialize disk" and there options inside. When i close that window, there's only C drive which is the first hard disk I was talking about. But in the bottom pane, there is disk 0 which is saying not initialized, that I can understand. But the thing is bothering me most that it says only 3.86GB unallocated.

I tried searching google for remedy, came upon some answers saying to initialize the disk and make partition and similar to these. Some also suggested to use windows installer disk to check the drives are showing up there or not. I tried all that, nothing happened. Now the question is, in this state is there any chance I can retrieve my data back if somehow I bring the drives back? There's too much valuable data I don't want to lose and is there any other remedy that should I try? I didn't initialize the disk until now!

at least would I get 2TB back? it only shows 3.86GB. that scares me. or should I take to the service center?
