So I bought this 4.8 ghz 4790k and compared it to my 3.9 ghz 4770k. I wanted higher minimum frames in counter-strike:go

When comparing the two in a very high cpu bound game (almost entirely cpu bound)
My gain on average NONE. so I had the same fps in the game as before...
Also talked to an expert before I bought the cpu and the gains in a very cpu bound game would be a big boost.
The 4790k and R9 390 is completely new.
Here is my build:

CS:GO is not a very demanding game in either GPU or CPU. Both of those processors are almost exactly the same so it's not surprising you didn't gain any performance benefits. However for a build of that nature, you shouldn't have a problem playing with very high frame rates including the minimum. What exactly is the issue? Are you experiencing frame drops?

What FPS were you getting and what are you getting now? I find it hard that moving from 3.9 to 4.8GHz would net you no gain. I know CS-go is cpu bound but your gpu still has to process the information to output to the screen, maybe you gpu is holding it back.

Did you ever try to OC your 4770k more to see if it helped at all?

Different games yield different results bro.

https://www.reddit.com/r/pcgaming/comments/36urxi/which_games_have_you_found_to_be_cpuintensive/

claiming a conclusion based on 1 observation is not show empirical evidence or statistical facts. You need at least 10 games to show real data.

so you mean some processors are extra good if I only play cs:go?
