Well, I read some reviews and many people had black screens the adapter wouldn't turn on and many other issues. That's why I decided to ask the community here and I'm very sceptical about the purchase...

The smart decision would be avoid this product. There is a reason that legitimate external GPU solutions for laptops (like what MSI has) are expensive.

I'm pretty sure the answer is no. And even if they were I'm guessing your laptop doesn't have a way of connecting with them. They are probably using a custom connection.

Few things, first does your Laptop even have a mini PCIe slot?

Secondly yes you need an external monitor, you will also need to buy a normal ATX powersupply to run both the GPU and the slot.

Third no the other ones will not work, they generally either have proprietary connections or use connections like thunderbolt.

And Fourth even if it does work your APU is pretty weak, You may still run into performance issues.

The age of the laptop does not necessarily mean it has the correct slot.

As for a GPU youd want something low mid range like a GTX 950 or R7 370.

The reason the msi one costs a lot is because it's proprietary but other ones are still $300 because they are thunderbolt and are rather new and in low production. These mpcie adpaters have been around for years and it's common to find them at $30 nowadays. http://www.gearbest.com/laptop-accessories/pp_229101.html You are limited to pcie x1 but the price isn't so bad if you just re-use other parts. What's your laptop model?

Well that would run GTA V. What is your budget for this endeavor, seems like a lot to spend for 1 game, maybe want to save up get something a bit better that will last you longer with other games.

I mean is there like a little panel that you can unscrew off that gives access to your wifi card. If so then go with the adapter and try an egpu.

I can hardly find info on that version and the other pavilion 15 touchsmart work just fine for egpus. If you saw a post saying something about white listing hp only products, they don't know what they are talking about.

Ok so assuming this PCIe idea worked you would need a lot more than 80 euros. That slot is 50, a good gpu is gonna cost you 120-200, and then you need a PSU to power it for around 50.

In November you should come back with your finalized budget and we can see what we can come up with for you. May be sales or discounts at that time that can help you.
