Hi all,

I just reverted my parents computer back to Windows 7 using the official Microsoft reset process. They upgraded a very old PC to Windows 10 and it was causing all kinds of driver issues with security software etc and the start menu kept not working requiring a pc restart.

However once I did this I can no longer reach the login screen. The loading screen works. However, the PC restarts without reaching the login page.

I tried safe mode and can successfully see all the accounts are there, however the USB keyboard and mouse (which work Inn bios and boot mode) stop working. I have also tried a ps2 keyboard which has the same issue.

If I try and force the PC to login normally I get a bluescreen. I'm almost certain this is a driver issue I just need a working keyboard at least!

It seems like Windows did something wrong when restoring to W7 from W10, my suggestion is to install a new copy of windows, you still can backup the files on the hard drive by connecting it to another computer.

Hi,

Thanks very much for the response. Yes I have tried the automatic repair mode however that doesn't seem to work.

I've posted an image of the error I got from the repair mode and BSOD here: https://imgur.com/a/z8RQX

Thanks!
