I left my house with my PC off which is fine. I came back and my PC wouldnt turn on. I then opened it and got it to turn on. When \i\\ turned it on my ram stopped working or something because it was beeping. I looked up the beep codes, an for my motherboard it meant the ram got messed up. Im not sure how because I did what I normally do when I open my PC. I had a piece of metal to ground myself with thought I touched a bit inbetween touching my PC parts. Luckily I have a spare ram stick but its only 4gb which isnt nearly enough for the gaming I did with 16gb ram. Anyone have an idea on how the ram got messed up? (so I dont do it again)

Solution
You'll want to get 16GB of DDR4 RAM.
I've taken the liberty of choosing some out for you that are both good value and good performance.
On the wide majority of Z170 motherboards, RAM goes in slots 2 and 4 for optimal performance, however it is worth checking your motherboard manual online to see if this is the case.
Its specs should be present in BIOS.

Try to re-seat your broken ram twice, using one stick each time to find out which is still working.
Replug all connectors to make sure your motherboard is receiving enough power then get back to me.

That's what I did. I tried switching them both slots. Tried using them 1 at a time in each slot and it didn't work. But then the spare 4gb one I have does work on both ram slots

Your motherboard probably runs in dual channel.
How did you test the spare 4GB of RAM?
What model mobo do you have?

I put the 4gb ram stick in the slot. I tried the 4tb and the 8gb at the same time also in different slots. It won't work. And I don't currenltly have the exact model of the motherboard but it is from an Alienware x51. I'm trying to get money for a new motherboard and ram right now. Because the 4gb ram isn't enough to run the games I want to play

Haha, all good.
Looks like both of the 8GB sticks are dead then.
For future reference, DO NOT attempt to run RAM of different model and size at the same time.
They require different voltages and profiles, and the motherboard will only recognize one profile of RAM at a time.
Your best bet is to get replacement RAM for your current motherboard.
