The Windows 10 upgrader says my Intel core 2 duo E8600 CPU is not compatible with Windows 10 due to not supporting CMPXCHG16b.
Me and my friends have looked into it a bit and all came to the conclusion that my CPU should support it and be compatible with Windows 10.

Is this really the case, or can the CPU really not support it? And if it really is just a mistake in the advisor, how do I get it to update my Windows?

Thank you in advance.

Your CPU definitely supports the CMPXCHG16B instruction, but I'll bet the problem lies with your motherboard/BIOS. You have to have support from both for it to work. Try to find a BIOS update for your system, that's the best chance you have of getting it to work.
