Hello,

Has been years since I built a system, so out of the loop. In any case, got myself an eng sample of 4770k, socket 1150. Purchased an Asus itx h97 Plus mobo and
Cooler Master Elite 130 Mini-ITX. Just need a cooler that is 3" or under.

Wanted something that is not too loud and does a decent job. Not going to overclock.. a work comp.

Thanks for any suggestion, really struggling to find anything good under 3".

Cheers.

The H60 from Corsair is compatible with socket 1150 https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Hydro-Performance-Liquid-Cooler/dp/B00A0HZMGA/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1468291733&sr=1-1&keywords=H60 ...

The H55 is another option http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1922849/corsair-h55-cooling-4770k.html https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Hydro-Quiet-Liquid-Cooler/dp/B009VV56TY/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1468292147&sr=1-1&keywords=H55

Your welcome. Make sure you come back and update this post and let us know how it turns out. Average temps. and all that. In the future it will help those who are in the same boat you were.

HWMonitor is very detailed.

Coretemp is simple.

Speccy is simple but also very detailed.

Hello again,

Just finished installing the system few days ago. Went with Noctua NH-L9x65. Even though the Cooler Master Elite 130 Mini-ITX was meant for water cooling that you suggested, this Noctua air cooler is awesome! It barely fits though, maybe 1/2" clearance.. still it is quiet and keeps stock 4770k in low 30s when idle. I am running Ubuntu so can't really tell you more about temps etc. Wasn't comfortable with water cooling and it is a bit louder than this Noctua.. comp is sitting 2 feet from me.

I also highly recommend the Cooler Master case.. it is only around $30 on Newegg.com after rebates.. fits full size graphics card, optical drive, decent sized cpu cooler or water cooling. You can even fit 5 SSD's inside if you don't use optical drive.. with optical still 3 hard drives.. awesome.

In any case if someone is looking for a similar setup.. I boot in 5-6 sec and reboot in 4-5 sec.. HAHA!

Main reason I went with Ubuntu, speed, security, plus sick of Windows, Avast and everyone else trying track me and then sell my info.
