Are there any reviews looking at both of these cards side by side? I can find individual reviews but nothing comparing the two.

The only really demanding game I play at the moment is The Witcher 3 and I have never seen my frames dip below 60 except when opening menus with the details all maxed out; there seems to be a lack of menu optimization with the recent UI overhaul.

What I meant by Partner Card is ASUS, MSI, eVGA, Gigabyte, Zotac, etc.

I don't believe the GTX 1070 or even the 1080 will last you for 4 years at max settings, especially if you want to game at 4K. My plan was to purchase the GTX 1070 and game at 1080p until my monitors die then either step up to 1440p or 4K and see if the 1070 can handle it. If not...

I have a 1070 and it's great. Boost clocks are near 2050 and max temps never reach 70 C in my Fractal R5 which does not have the best airflow. I only game at 1080p so it's a bit overkill but I like the extra headroom. From what I have read, they are on par with the rest of the board partner cards.

I'm mostly trying to see what the largest difference between them would be in the real world. I can read the specs but i would need to know whether the 1080 is really worth the extra cash or whether the 1070 will last me for the next 4 years and let me max out my games.

Basically trying to see if the 1080's price is justified or whether i should go for the 1070 and be just fine.

What kind of FPS do you get while gaming? Im going to assume the details are maxed out? Also, what do you mean by partner cards, the 1080?

Depends on what games you play. I get about 300fps on csgo max settings across all maps in 1080p, and i always get above 100 fps in some higher end games (high to ultra settings) like ark survival evolved and rainbow 6 seige, both in 1080p. Btw these results are all on a clock speed of 1759mhz, because I only overclock for benchmarks and for when i need more fps for shaders in minecraft :) By partner cards, he means the other companies that produce the cards like evga, msi, zotac, pny etc.

To answer your other question, it depends on your setup. If you wanna run 4k vr high settings (or whatever combination of those) go for the 1080. If you just wanna get good fps at 1080 or 1440 go for the 1070.

If not then I'll upgrade then to whatever suits my needs. Currently with my 1080p setup a 1070 suits my needs perfectly. If I had a 1440p or 4K monitor then I would be looking at the 1080 Ti when it's released. If you absolutely cannot wait then try out a 1070 and upgrade to a 1080 Ti when they are released.
