Hi, i'm just a beginner and also building a new intel pc. I can suggest going for the B/H 170's. For the brand, Since my old gear is gigabyte i can vouch to that brand. Regarding asus though , they have good boards but some feedbacks from my peers and other customers say that they experience issues unless it is a high end one above $180(in my opinion). Are you going to upgrade your cpu too?.
yes! i will upgrade my cpu too probably
as i said m using right now Core 2 duo e7300 2.6ghz with gigabyte g41 combo
What is your budget for your cpu? You said you are not overclocking so I will suggest you get a MSI B150M NIGHT ELF, MSI B150 GAMING M3. Don't for the h110M.
I highly suggest that you don't cheap out too much on your motherboard.
Go for the 1151 socket if it's within your budget.( keep in mind that you also need a new ddr4 ram).
For the cpu it's either go for the i3-6100 or i5-6400/6500 to compensate efficiently with your gtx 960.I do not mean there is nothing wrong with your current CPU and all.
Thanks mate
OneLast, how about MSI B150M MORTAR?
About MSI B150M MORTAR, It's also good but comparing it to the two that I've suggested, It would differ from features, Too many to mention. Also aesthetics comes to play when choosing between the three as they are B150 boards.
I suggest you go with what you can afford, check reviews and consumer feedbacks about the it.
I suggest checking video and forums reviews as well.
We are having the same plans and it's also my first time.
In my case, Instead of going i3 or i5, I will go with the i7-6700 (non-K [not overclockable]) cpu.
Due to the fact that I am going to upgrade later on and I changed my mind in doing it with one time purchase.
My apologies for the long explanation for I am a newbie as well.
NIce GPU by the way. I highly suggest to get a 4GB version when the time comes or if you want.
