Looking for good quality 140mm PWM fans for both performance (when gaming) and quietness (while browsing)

Hi guys,

Needing some assistance on what brand and model fans I should go for as the title states.
To give some information, I have just changed over to the Corsair 400c case where I am looking to put 2 x 140mm at the front and another 2 x 140mm at the top (I already have a static pressure fan pulling out of a radiator at the back).
I currently have 2 x 140mm basic corsair fans at the front and 2 x 140mm NZXT's I am borrowing however all 4 are only 3 pin.
Since the case has a very large side window I would preferably like to go for fans that are black (or maybe clear). LED's aren't an issue since I have corsair's RGB light kit installed in the case.

For the applications, I want fans that are very quiet while not under load (i.e. browsing) and then have the ability to speed up to give good performance and flow/cooling while gaming (I don't mind a bit of noise as long as they can perform well). A fan that has that flexibility of RPM ranges to be adjusted in the BIOS would be great.

So far I have looked at:
Noctua NF-A14 Industrial PPC 140mm 2000RPM PWM Fan
Noctua NF-P14S Redux 140mm 1500RPM PWM Fan
I am open to any other brands such as Be Quiet!, Bitfenix, NZXT, Phanteks, etc. or opinions on Thermaltake Riing rgb (not sure how good quality they are?)

Thanks in advanced everyone, your advice and help will be much appreciated.

I've got a couple noctua nf-p14s 1500's in my case as top exhaust and they work really well so long as you can control the fan speed. 1500rpm's is really almost too much, the noise does pick up a bit but they move nice amounts of air at lower speeds and if turned low enough can barely be heard. The industrial ppc are rarely anything close to quiet, they're industrial air movers.

The redux fans are a nice two tone gray and dark gray. Chances are you won't even see the top fans much unless you specifically crane your neck to look at them. That case looks similar to mine with a large window, mine sits on the desk at eye level and even then I have to lean down and get close then turn my head to look upward to see the top exhaust fans...

Phanteks 140mm fans also work extremely well, a lot of airflow without a lot of noise but I didn't have much luck as top exhaust (horizontal mount), they vibrated pretty bad in that orientation.

I've heard good things about the aerocool ds fans moving a fair amount of air without being overly loud also. Not sure if the styling is an issue or not, they're a little more flashy than standard fans but not lit up on their own. I'd probably let the led lighting do its job and stay away from led fans but that's my personal taste. Not saying the riing fans are bad but with other known good choices with solid 5-6yr warranty like the phanteks or noctua's I don't see a lot of compelling reason. The riing specs seem a bit average.

Yeah I have done some extra research on the redux series and seem like a great option for both quietness and performance without having to go for the ugly brown haha. I think the grey colour would still match as well even though everything else is black but yeah agreeing with what you said, the tops probably won't be all that noticeable.

Awesome, thanks for the input on the Phanteks, I'll check them out and see if horizontal positioning is a common issue. Yeah I think the riing fans are a bit too gimmicky for my taste as well so will most likely stay away from those. Cheers for the input, much appreciated!
