Internet suddenly became very slow on my computer only

About 2 days ago, I was playing this game called "Counter-Strike:Global Offensive". One round left before the game ended for us, all of a sudden I start to experience very high ping around 900+. I thought it was something small so I quickly exit the game and reconnected but the issue was still there.

From that day, I've been trying to figure out why my internet has been really slow. I tried a different game and apparently my ping was actually normal, so maybe I was getting DDoSed?

So I actually took my dads newly built PC (built it myself, not a lot of programs installed onto it). I plugged the Ethernet cable in, DVI cable, mouse, keyboard, etc.

It actually turns out that the internet is crazy fast using the same Ethernet cable, I installed "Steam", let it update and it was really fast, browsing on the web was great and just everything was smooth, so maybe my main computer had a problem??

I reinstalled windows 10 on my main PC, because maybe it could've been a virus and It was time to reinstall windows 10 anyways. I did a clean install and installed my Nvidia drivers, I had a "Steam" setup file from like last night on my hard drive and I just decided to install it and let it download its newest update - So far it is taking very very long to update, but everything is just terribly slow...

Troubleshooting I have done:

1. Rebooted router
2. Disabled Ethernet adapter
3. Clean install of windows 10 x64

Any ideas on how to solve this problem would be greatly appreciated.

THANKS

KIND REGARDS,
DANNY

Missing network protocols - which ones?

Do you see anything about Windows Registry Sockets?

The issue could well remain if there is some "perfect storm" situation with respect to your existing OS and setup. May not immediately reappear as that can be the nature of such things.

Google the errors you find via the wording or any numeric codes. Unfortunately some such error codes are too generic. Or may seemingly point to something unrelated. Some get very detailed with respect to both the problem and what needs to be done.

And some services are dependent on others: if the original service is not started or stopped along the way, then the dependent services will fail.

Can be very involved and complex as can be seen when you...

Go into Task Manager to see what services and processes are running.

User "perfmon /all" at the Command prompt to examine system performance.

Open the Event Viewer logs to look for informational events, warnings, and errors.

Try to identify some process or service that is taking up one or more system resources.

The above actions should provide some clue with regards to the culprit.

Just look and see what you can find. Then post accordingly.

That wouldn't really help out right now, since I've already did a clean install..

Did the clean install make a difference?

Hopefully so.

However, if not, then take advantage of the clean install to check things or otherwise familiarize yourself with the logs.

That may help you spot something if the performance slows again later on.....

Alright, I have fully installed Windows 10 Pro x64 on my computer, now I would normally install my Nvidia drivers and other applications but first I head to the device manager and I noticed 2 things that I have never seen before.

In 'Device manager', i went and updated my 'Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller' with the latest update on realteks website then I noticed underneath my 'Network Adapter' that there was a lot of these 'WAN Miniports' ...
Also, under 'Other devices' : "PCI Simple Communications Controller" have a yellow triangle under it...

So now I go and install my Nvidia drivers, because the black border around my screen was bothering me and now ...

I also went on Microsoft Edge just to test out the internet and it is still quite slow, as a matter of fact ... I can't even connect to Google!

The WAN Miniports are just drivers that provide or perform various networking functions.

Try the Windows "Troubleshooter problems" via a right-click on the Network icon, probably lower right screen corner.

My thought is that you have some service or process that is corrupted and, as a result, other things dependent on it are not working.

The Event Viewer logs will report errors and warnings with respect to failed starts, etc.

You can find out more by looking at the Services running on your computer.

Type "Services" into the "Search the web and Windows" box. Right-click any suspect services (based on errors or warnings) and select Properties for more information.

I doubt it make a difference checking out the logs or seeing which services have an errors...?
Let's say I would install a different OS (clean install) - the issue will still remain there?

I tried the Windows "Troubleshooter problems", it would say that there's internet access or sometimes it would say that there are "network protocols are missing", I would 'fix it' by pressing "Fix using Administrator" or something along those lines but then the internet would still be really slow..

Can be very involved and complex as can be seen when you look at the services directly via "Services" in the Search Box.

You may find some network related service that is not starting or being stopped for some reason. And the "Fix using Administrator" may only address the immediate problem and not something further up the dependency chain. Hence things slow or stop again.

More or less have to grind through the details and pin down the culprit.

(Please note there are many websites that will appear and claim to "fix" any problem so entered - such websites can add confusion and mis-information that, if applied, can make things worse. Be careful. Look for concensus and common details with respect to the error being addressed.)

With a few more details regarding the problem someone may recognize the problem and post additional suggestions.

Thanks for helping me out so much, I forgot what I did but somehow the internet on my computer is running really smooth just like my dads PC.
