So I'm no expert with networking or networking hardware, although I know my war around a PC, but I'm fairly certain the signal shouldn't keep dropping every 20 secconds. I'm curently on holiday in Italy at a house my farther owns and last January (2015) we decided to get internet here so we asked one of our Italian speaking friends to sort it out. So they got us on a plan with Vodaphone and last June, when I last came out here, it was perfectly fine and stable with a 12mb/s download speed. But now we're only getting about 3Mb/s ddownload and whenever I'm on a game the connection to the servers cuts out for a coupple of secconds fairly often (about every 20secconds to 2 minutses). I decided to look at what was going on signal wise from a wifi analyszer app on my phone and found that whilst the 2.4 GHz band seemes reasonably stable the 5GHz band is all over the place and sometimes cutting out.
Is there anything I can do to resolve this?
Please Help.

Solution
WLAN is always tricky to use.
The best solution is to use usual network cable.
You have also other alternative like PowerLAN.
If WLAN is your only preferable solution, you can try to find WLAN repeaters.

I think it's more than just general WLAN issues. The signal is good when it's working but it just craps out really often. Also I don't think a range extender or powerline adapter would really help because I'm only 10 or so meters away from the router with just a thin wall inbetween. Thanks for the suggestion though I will consider it. :)

p.s. Do you think that getting a new wireless router might help?
