Safe GPU Temperatures

I have a GTX 1080 currently and i was wondering what are the sort of safe temperatures for GPUs. most games with capped frames i get around 50-55 degress C and some games like gta v with max settings and capped frames i can get around 60-82 degrees C. i havent yet seen my system go above 82 but its this a safe temperature?

Perfectly safe. The 1080's temperature target is to stay under 83c, after that boost clock will drop to lower try and lower temperatures. The actual thermal limit is 94c.

The stock fan profiles run the fan as low as possible to keep noise down. You can create a custom fan profile to lower temperatures a bit if you don't mind the extra noise.
