I have stock fans from HP with an amd - fx 670k overclocked to 4.2 GHz and a gtx 960 2gb and whenever i play games it sounds like an engine revving or something its so loud. It is very hot in my house but the CPU temps usually sit around 40 degrees C. I tried cleaning it out with pressurized air but that didnt seem to do anything. The fans were never this loud before . Anyone know whats wrong?

Thanks. At this point you may need to consider just replacing the fans.

Maybe see if the noise can be attributed to a particular fan and replace that one first.

Will take a bit of effort but you might discover something else that is relevent.

Are you sure it is the fans and not a failing hard drive? If so, check to make sure something isn't sticking into the fan housing (wires, piece of plastic etc). If everything is clear it may be an issue with the bearings on the fan motor. When you cleaned it did you let the fans spin freely or did you hold them still? If it is under warranty you may be due to rma it and have a new one installed, but seeing as you have an oc'd system might as well use this as an opportunity to upgrade your fan and heat sync to something better than stock, your CPU will thank you.

Could be the fans are wearing or if relatively new - defective.

Were you carefully with the pressurized air cleaning? Too hard of a blast can be damaging.

You can also check the fan mountings as they may be loosening up and vibrating more than usual.

Does the system seem hotter than normal? Make sure that the CPU temperature readings are correct.

Go back in and take a closer look for signs of overheating - thermal paste oozing out perhaps.

Nothing is sticking in the fans I that I see. The fans are quite old (3-4 years) The fans did spin freely yes. Warranty is expired, and I am getting an i5 - 6600k soon along with a new mb ram fans and case.

Fans are pretty old. They don't seem loose. The reading seem to be correct as well. And no visible thermal paste oozing, and I think I was careful when i cleaned it out.
