Hey folks; Ethobling here.

I made a post similar to this a year ago, but not my Quadro is not just hitting the 75C range, but up to 90C when playing Star Trek Online (rarely; usually it stays around 80-85C).

I have an Optiplex 780 MT with these specs:
-Core 2 Duo E8600 3.33Ghz, 6MB L2 Cache, 65W
-4 GB DDR3 Ram (data rate is either 1066 or 1333)
-Nvidia Quadro FX 1700 512 MB
-305W PSU (stock; came with the Optiplex)
-700 GB Seagate Barracuda
-Win XP 32 bit

Is this temperature range safe for the Quadro? I've looked everywhere and can't find the actual max safe operating temp, not the environmental temps...

P.S. Ik it is a crappy card and definitely NOT made for gaming. If you wanna recommend a better card with the PSU I have, I'm all ears...

Oooh...ty. Now what about the safe operating temp of my Quadro? Do you happen to know?

Thank you very much. :)

Edit: Does having a low-profile card necessarily mean it will have less graphical power than a full sized card with the same power requirement?

That's what I was thinking. It is only hitting 90C very rarely. Usually it stays around 80-85C. I looked at it and it doesn't need to be cleaned...perhaps I need to reseat the heatsink? Lol.

You would think using a few KB to keep the product info on their site wouldn't be too much to ask, but I guess it is...

I wasn't sure if the 710 wasn't the best choice. It is the newest hardware, but I didn't compare all the features. It is a DX12 compatible card. I am not a gamer, so I am not always the best for recommending gaming graphics cards.

Just need to be careful in your choice of 730s. There are two different versions. Some with 96 CUDA cores and some with 384...

I noticed that myself. Well, I am far from an expert, so I value your advice much more than my own...lol.
