Hello, so I bought a new GPU (ASUS Radeon R7 360 OC 2GB GDDR5). Excited to see how will it perform, i put the GPU in my PC, screwed it in, closed the case and turned it on. As the title says, monitor showed me a "HDMI no display" message. I got confused and changed the new GPU with my old one. Everything worked fine, so i thought maybe it was the drivers. So i uninstalled the recent drivers, turned off the PC and did the same process. Still doesn't work. I have no idea what to do, only thing that comes to my mind is updating the BIOS, but I'm not 100% sure about that.

Solution

Yes, make sure the GPU is seated correctly, and also make sure all power cables are correctly in place and not coming loose. They should all have a latch that clicks over a latch on each cable slot. Make sure that PCI-e 4-pin and very similar looking 4-pin CPU connector are not in the wrong slots. CPU connector should have CPU or something like...

The message displays right when the PC boots. I figured out that the GPU works (fans are working). I'll try to work on it tonight and see if I can do something, thanks for the reply.

The GPU may be defective even if the fans are spinning. Return or exchange it with the warranty and get a new one to rule out that factor. If you can do this soon, it would be helpful to diagnose your problem.

Indeed. I had hoped if the BIOS screen showed, then it may have indicated a driver issue. At which point booting into safe mode may have confirmed that.

Insofar as it doesn't get to the BIOS screen, then, as Damorihno suggests, it may be a faulty GPU. (Always annoying when that happens.) The only other thing is to check whether the GPU is installed correctly (but that seems unlikely).

Oh, is the problem there? I just disconnected the old GPU and connected the new one, i did nothing with the cables. Although there is i think a 6 pin port that you can put a cable in. I'm not an expert.

Thanks, I'll check it tomorrow, but I'm not sure if there is a 6 pin connector in my psu.

If that's so, there may be a 4+2-pin. They just clip together to make the 6-pin.
