Can I put a stick of ddr3 8gb ram in 3 of 4 slots

So i recently put in a hyper212 evo and its so big that it covers 1 of 4 of my ram slots. i have 4 sticks of ddr3 8gb corsair vengeance ram and i was wondering if i could just put 3 in making 24gb or ram. the slots are like [()][x][x][x] where the one with the parenthesis is covered and the x's are where the ram would go.

Can the RAM fit if you remove the cooler and replace it? And yes, you could, but they like to be placed in pairs, mah dawg.

If the mobo supports flex mode it will run two of the sticks in dual channel and the odd third stick in single channel mode, if it doesn't support flex mode then all of the 3 sticks will run in single channel mode, which will be a slight performance hit.

Yes you can but it won't run in dual channel... I doubt you will see a difference thou... The ram slots are all the same... There not different speeds like pci-e slots

You can just move the fan up to fit the ram under unless the ram heatsink is really tall and your case is too small.
