I am looking to upgrade my 750 ti that I can cook bacon on(My room gets to 100 degrees when PC is under load) to a GTX 1070 aftermarket cooler (Taking suggestions for cooler too). I am extremely concerned that a larger GPU PCB will physically contact with my RAM sticks.

Specs:

Zalman Z11 Plus (Case can fit GPU)

Asus Vanguard b85 Mobo (This is the problem because the PCI-E is extremely close to the ram slots)

Zotac GTX 750 Ti (The PCB is small in length and it doesn't even come close to the RAM.

i7 4790 (Non - K)

Stock Intel Cooler

CX500 PSU

Old Corsiar DDR3 Ram:

The motherboard is designed to have a GPU installed. Coolers face down, and backplates are thin, therefore nothing will stick up to hit the RAM.

You will be fine in terms of the motherboard.

However, before installing a powerful GPU, I recommend getting a higher quality PSU.

The CX series is low quality and can deliver unstable voltages when under stress. Please consider one of these.

That's a difficult question... I have experience with a CM V850 and V1000 (in the same series as the V550) and they were each quieter than my triple length 120mm rad with three fans at 400RPM (minimum speed). I would think the V550 would be rather quiet. I do not have personal experience with Corsair or EVGA units, but out of all three, I think the EVGA SuperNOVA G2 would be the quietest.
