Alienware R4

With exception to adding 2 SSD drives and the new graphics card my system hardware configuration is the same as original setup.

I need assistance with my Alienware Aurora R4 Bios A03 computer.

Recently I was on my computer playing a game when Suddenly my screen went BLACK and funny lines appeared on the screen . A few seconds later the Black Backlight came back on but no graphics were displaying just a black backlight. I also noticed that one of the fans went crazy and cycled to maximum output. I had to hard shut down my computer with the power button.

Upon restarting my computer it would go through the normal Boot-up process up to around the point where the windows logon screen would start to display. Instead of the WIN Logon screen coming up the screen would go Black again and a few second later the Black backlight would come on again and stay there. The windows screen never came up and I have to hard boot the shutdown.

I was able to run a diagnostics which said there was a problem with the Graphics card memory integrity. Which I took as meaning need a new graphics card.

I ordered a new graphics card and installed. Whenever I try to boot the System with the new card. It stays on the initial screen with an Alienware face and the 2 option F2=setup F12 Boot Options.
. It does not go past the initial Alienware boot screen. The bios never starts up. The System Also gives 8 beeps 20 sec apart.

I ended up putting my old graphics card back in and reinstalling windows. First with the original windows 7 restoration USB that I created and the upgraded to win 10. And then a Clean Win 10 install over top. The issue of the Black screen continued to happen throughout this process. Although I will not that it often happened when installing the Graphics card drivers and windows would sometimes even through up errors with the graphic driver itself. Which would be expected if the card was going bad. I also noticed that my old card (which I used to do the win installs) No longer showed up as a Display adapter in my “DEVICE MANAGER” but moved to “Other” with a large yellow triangle with an Exclamation point.

Long story short. I have:
• Clean reinstalled windows 7 and 10 8-12 times in the last week.
• Reset the BIOs via removing the CMOS battery
• Re-seated the Memory
• Removed the extra hard drives
• Ensured only minimum devices plugged into the USB ports

Sadly the old card has degraded to the point that I cannot even get into windows anymore.

Please Help, and Thankyou in advance.

** I was able to Fix this issue with advice from another forum. Turns out my bios was outdated. I was running version A03 and the current is A11. I took an old video card out of my old computer and was able to use it to install the bios updates. Once that was completed the issue was resolved. I hope this helps some of you out there.
