I placed in the intel cpu into the socket and alligned it, i then wiggled the sides to see if it was firmly in place but the cpu was wiggly and moved a little in position. I didnt think it was a big deal and just placed the cover down using the lever. it went down without an issue but i keep thinking about my potentially damaged mobo pins.

questions-

once i place the lid down without and issues does it mean that i installed it properly and the nothing went wrong?

is it normal that the cpu moves a little while positioned onto the mobo pins. (slight movement)

Solution
When you clamp the retention arm down and the square metal lip fits over the Intel cpu it lines it up perfectly on the wafer type contacts of the cpu socket.

If the board powers up and recognise the cpu then your fine.
