I recently installed Windows XP via Virtualbox so I could run a piece of software that requires XP. Although I have a copy of the install disk for XP with SP2, the only Product Key that I have is for the retail version of XP with SP1. Thus, I had to install it. (makes me wish I had saved my XP product key stickers on PCs that got tossed!!)
The software worked *perfectly* under the Windows XP Virtual Machine in Windows 7, and I assume it had all of the service packs included (Microsoft, being ever so kind, upgraded my PC automatically to Windows 10 despite the fact that I said **NO** every single time to its upgrade request). The software runs fine under XP with SP1 until I try to load a file created with the XP included in Windows 7. It crashes every time. Thus, I figured that I need to upgrade to service pack 2 or 3.
I have searched almost all day, and I have tried downloading only from sites that "looked" reputable (which, I know, means nothing). Every one was infected with viruses or malware. Is there anywhere to download a legit copy of SP2 or SP3? I know that Microsoft officially dumped XP in 2014, but why not leave the SPs available????
