Would it be worthwhile to downgrade the CPU in favor of SSD storage

hello at somepoint in the future im going to be building for the first time. Lately ive been thinking about downgrading from the intel i7 6700k to the i5 6600k with the money i would save i would like to buy a 512 GB SSD to store my steam library on. Im primarilly concerned about which would be more benificial for gaming use but i do some light photoshop and blender (3d Modelling program) work on the side. Overall is the loss of CPU preformance worth the gain in the utilization of an SSD?

If the budget is that tight, probably yes...get the SSD.
Games don't benefit much from an i7 over an i5.
'Light' graphics use doesn't either.

Game performance SSD vs HDD? Faster level load times is about it. This can be a significant advantage...

But do NOT use the SSD only for your Steam library. You want the OS on it, as well as most/all of your applications.

I will never again build without a ssd.
It makes everything you do much quicker.

You will lose nothing with a i5-6600K assuming you will overclock it.
Few games can make use of more than 2-3 threads so the hyperthreads will hardly be worthwhile.

Moreover, you have a slightly better chance of a higher overclock with a 6600K.

As of 5/2016
What percent can get an overclock at a somewhat sane 1.40v Vcore.

I5-6600K
5.0 2%
4.9 11%
4.8 36%
4.7 64%
4.6 88%

I7-6700K
4.9 2%
4.8 17%
4.7 59%
4.6 93%
4.5 100%
