Red VGA light on montheboard. Can't get rid of it...

Just an annoying, bright red LED in the middle of my gold theme build. Otherwise, system works perfect.

MOBO=Z97 OC Formula
GPU=EVGA 1080 FTW
PSU=EVGA 1000 P2

Tried:
Different PCIE cables
Different PCIE outputs from PSU
Checking PSU voltage is consistent
Removing and reinstalling GPU
Four other graphics i've used on the same board never caused this.
Integrated graphics don't cause the light to come on.

EVGA tech said card is fine after some troubleshooting.
ASROCK tech said if computer is working, ignore the light... Great help there.

I think I exhausted all options short of an RMA. Any ideas?

Not sure you'll get an RMA if both the EVGA and ASRock are saying everything is fine.

Have you tried to see if there is a BIOS update for your motherboard?

Does your motherboard have a POST code display? That might help to determine what exactly the motherboard doesn't like about your graphics card. One thing that comes to mind with the recent hub bub with the RX480 is power draw over the PCI-E slot.

Does the LED come on and stay on the entire time?

If you have an Asus branded motherboard.

And a red led light is lit on the motherboard simply look near the Led light lit in red.

It will tell you what the red Led light is linked to in relation to the motherboard.

Cpu power, Pci-e card slot, Memory, Boot device, power.

He said it's an AsRock motherboard (Z97 OC Formula), so not ASUS.

Yes it does. No post codes are shown and machine has no issues. I thought about the RX480 pcie thing too. I didn't think that is an issue with the 1080 though.

Yes, LED stays on the entire time.

That is unusual. I wonder what exactly the LED is supposed to signify specifically. Or maybe its a range of issues. My experience with these type of LEDS, is they are lit when the system doesn't POST. Your situation is unique to me in that you say that the system runs fine.

I have the same board, nothing is wrong with my build and the light just came on. Never noticed it before. That light is on and all the buttons, power/reset etc., below are on with the board powered off. No clue wtf this is about? Have you figured out anything?

Nope, i replaced my gtx 1080 with another new one. Light is still just as annoying as ever. It is even coming on with integrated graphics now. Otherwise absolutely no issues with the machine except an occasional power loop on cold boot, which it's always done. Sometimes i have to flip the PSU switch and it always comes on the second time. I've done everything short of mobo/psu replacement and i'm sure it isnt the psu. I'm about to just get electrical tape and black it out when I get the chance.
